Pre-requisites for Duplicate SID Changer installation using SQL Express 2005

The following chapter describes the pre-requisites and recommendations for installation Smart-X NewSID – Duplicate SID Changer on a SQL Express.

1.       It is recommended to install SQL Server Management Studio. The studio can be downloaded HERE

2.       Configure the SQL Server to use 'SQL server and Windows Authentication mode':

a.       Launch the SQL Server Management tool

b.      Connect to SQL Server

c.       Right click the SQL Instance on the left pane and select 'Properties'.

d.      Select the 'Security' Page and check 'SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode'

e.      Click 'OK'

3.       Configure SQL Express to allow Named Pipes connections

a.       Launch 'SQL Server Configuration manager'

                        
                        

 

b.      On the left pane, Expand the following nodes:
SQL Server Configuration Manager à SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration' à Protocols for SQLEXPRESS.

c.       On the right pane, double click 'Named Pipes'

d.      Set the 'Enable' property to 'Yes'.
